Extended Pharmacy Services are now available
Extended Pharmacy Services
Extended Pharmacy Services are part of a new initiative from Health New Zealand designed to improve access to care for common health conditions through your local pharmacy.
From 2 June 2026, participating pharmacies can provide a range of pharmacist-led services, helping you and your whānau access timely care close to home, often without needing to visit a GP. Pharmacists can assess symptoms, provide advice, and where appropriate, supply treatment or medicines for selected common conditions.
These services are partially funded, meaning many patients may now pay less for the same pharmacy consultation and treatment services than they previously would have.

Pharmacists can recommend effective treatments and provide advice on how to remove lice and eggs, as well as how to prevent reinfestation within the household.
