Sexual Health 101 gives you the discretion of testing for the sexually transmittable diseases (STD) of Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia, HIV, and Syphilis in the privacy of your own home*, anytime, for anyone.
This take-home testing kit is a confidential service with direct access to sexual health testing services. You do not need a GP referral and your results are not sent to your GP or hea lthcare provider.
Each kit contains all you need for home swabbing and urine collection.
All blood tests are collected by participating Blood Test collection centres. No appointments are needed, and you can drop in with your completed blood collection form provided in the kit. (Collection centres are not currently available in the Gisborne / Tairawhiti, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Palmerston North and West Coast of the South Island).

How it works
Step 1: You can purchase the at-home kit at one of our participating chemists or online.
Step 2: Perform the swab and urine tests at home.
If a blood test is also required, take your completed blood collection form to a Blood Test Centre collection centre for your sample collection.
Step 3: Return the swab and urine samples in the courier bag provided OR drop off at a Blood Test Centre collection centre.
Step 4: Results are emailed to you within a week. For a positive HIV or syphilis test result, you will receive a phone call.

How will I get my results?
You will receive your results by email, typically within 1 week of testing.

How long before I receive my results?
Your results will be sent to the email address provided, typically within a week of the samples being sent to the lab.
Will my GP receive a copy of my results?
No, your result is confidential. If you test positive for Gonorrhoea, Syphilis or HIV, we recommend contacting a local treatment provider.
Gonorrhoea, Syphilis and HIV are notifiable infections, which means that we are legally required to notify Public Health of any positive results, however information directly identifying the client is not included.

Sexual Health 101 facilitates the safe requesting, generation and reporting of lab test results and we are committed to protecting this information in accordance with the law and with the expectations of health consumers and providers. We take our role as a custodian of health information seriously and know that privacy is an important component of consumer and provider trust in our services.

Are the laboratories ISO accredited?
Sexual Health 101 is a service delivered by APHG - New Zealand's leading provider of laboratory and pathology services. Our network includes 25 laboratories and 150 collection centres nationwide.
Our laboratories are accredited to NZS/ISO 15189 "Medical Laboratories - Particular requirements for quality and competence". The accreditation is done annually by an external agency know as International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ).
