A combination of different Head Lice treatments seems to work best, and all members of the family who have lice should be treated together. Bed linen and towels should be washed in hot water and tumble-dried on high for 20 minutes. Hairbrushes and combs should also be soaked in hot water. The tiny, creamy-white eggs (nits) are attached to the base of the hair shaft and can be removed by a metal fine-toothed comb. Wet combing, where a conditioner is applied to stun the insects, followed by systematic combing with a fine-toothed comb and, finally washing the conditioner out, should be repeated on alternate days for three weeks. Chemical shampoos are also available and should be used strictly according to the label.
